« Aquæ ductuum in vicinia admirandæ visuntur reliquiae, tanti in latitudinem & altitudinem spatii, ut tres equites vnà ingredi possint : Romanorum indubiè opera. »
= Nearby, one can see the admirable remains of an aqueduct, sufficiently high and wide that three horses abreast can pass through it; it was certainly constructed by the Romans.
