The block which carries the inscription was used as the lintel of the ‘Porte Papal’ in the south-eastern porch of the cathedral (CIL, XIII, 1575a)
« On monte à la Cathédrale par des degrez jusqu’au grand Autel, qui est séparé du Palais Episcopal par un mur bâti à l’antique. On y voit encores toutes entieres les deux Lettres Grecques qui signifient le nom de JESUS-CHRIST, & qu’on a remarquées en parlant de Saint Oren d’Auch. »
