« Unndt sicht man noch heütigs tags gantze mauren der alten statt, welche Avaricum genant gewesen ; dieselbige sindt so gewaltig in einander cementiert, daß man sie mit keinen instrumenten abbrechen kan unndt sie derhalben gantz muß laßen bleiben. »
= And still today, one can see the walls of the old town (which was called Avaricum) in their entirety; these walls were constructed so solidly that it is impossible to dismantle them with any tool whatsoever and thus they have remained intact.
