Connected with the Borromei bank, this merchant travelled for business between 1517 and 1519 in France, Spain, the Netherlands and England
« Gli sono molti segni che la città hera bellissima et grandissima ; gli sono anchora in pede due de le porte antiche : l’una si domanda la Portaglia de Arro et l’altra la Portaglia de Santo Andrea. Ciascaduna de loro [7v°] ha in mezo due porte grande, et da li cantti due porte picole, una per cantto, tutte de prette vive, grandissime et belle, con bellissimi ornamentti sopra a dicta portta. Et de talle portaglie dicono che la città ne haveva 7, ma al presentte non ne sono in piede se non dicte due. Si crede che ciascuna porta ne havesse 4 per la numerosittà dil popullo. Li muri sono grossi circa a braza 5 di nostri et più. »
