Bellièvre describes here the reservoir of the Gier Aqueduct, known as ‘Grotte Berelle’
« Extat in vineto Lugduni, sur la recluserie de la magdeleyne, spaciosa quædam cavea vetus, hanc vulgus appellat, crotte berelle, quam denominationem puto esse antiquam, crotta enim, Itala lingua cavea est, et berelle a bibendo, quasi cavea ad quam conveniebant bibere volentes, taverne. »
