The passage cited concerns the Roman columns supporting the vault of the Baptistery
« In der hauptkirchen, (Sainct Sauveur) […] welches ein groß stattlich gebeüw, hab ich sechs gewaltig große, gegossene, steinene seülen, deren yegliche bey zwentzig schu hoch unndt ein klafter dick.. »
= In the cathedral (Saint-Sauveur) [ ], which is a large and handsome edifice, I was able to see six large, single block columns, monoliths, each one twenty feet high and a fathom thick.
