« Li suoi ornamenti antichi de’quali se ne vedono ancora le vestigie, erano il Coliseo [ ], e lo acquedotto che per molte miglia fuori della città vi portava l’acqua dentro, che rispondeva ancora nel soddetto Coliseo. Ma ora non se ne vede altro che alcuni volti, ben pero grandi. »
= The remnants of the ancient edifices can still be seen, amongst which the ‘Coliseum’ [amphitheatre], [ ]. There was also an aqueduct which brought water right into the said ‘Coliseum’ [amphitheatre] from many miles away; today only a few arches remain of it, though some are impressive.
