« Den 30 octobris [1552] besach ich frie[u] die antiquiteten z°u Nismes, das gros amphitheatrum, doran ußen die gehauwene bilder Romuli und Remi, die alß kinder nachendt, die ein wölfin seigt. Item ein ufrecht gehauwen bildt, so dry angesicht hatt etc. [ ] [f. 58] Morndes [1554] reiten wir gon Nismes, besach do die antiquiteten, daß amphitheatrum, so gar weit; an einem ort deßelbigen am stein sicht man die figur ingehauwen Romuli, so die statt Rom erbuwen, und seins br°uders Remi, so noch kinder und an einer wölfin sugen. Man sicht auch ein bildt eins mans in drifacher gestalt und andre vil seltzame sachen, so ich besach ».
= “The 30^th October, early, I visited the antiquities of Nimes: the large amphitheatre, in which one can see a sculpted image of Romulus and Remus suckled by a she-wolf when they were infants, as well as one of a standing man with three faces. [ ] The next morning, we rode to Nimes to visit the antiquities there, in particular the amphitheatre, which is huge. In this ancient place, there is a sculpted image of Romulus and his brother Remus suckled by the she-wolf when they were infants. There is also see the image of a triple faced man and other strange old things, which I saw.”
